Pay Close Attention to the Side-Effects of Medication

Helping the Moore Community Improve Oral Health

What’s one thing all medication has in common? Side-effects. They range far and wide, many of which can cause issues with your oral health. Xerostomia, the medical term for dry mouth, happens to be one of the most common side-effects across prescription medications, causing the various parts of your mouth to dry out completely. This can result in chronic blisters and sores if left unaddressed. Other relevant risks from xerostomia are cavities and gingivitis. The reason these are more common in people with constant dry mouth? There is less saliva available to wash out bacteria and food fragments.
